Tassel Necklace DIY

I've been seeing tassel jewelry everywhere lately so I thought it would be fun to make some of my own! This necklace is by far my favorite piece that I've made:

It reminds me of a blue and white ginger jar and that's exactly the look I was going for.

After scouring local bead shops and not finding exactly what I wanted, I checked out etsy and was able to find some great deals. I followed this super easy tutorial from Brit + Co  (or I like this Martha Stewart tutorial too) for the tassel and just played around with beads until I got a combo that I liked for the necklace.
I have a couple more blue and white beads coming soon (including this one!) and I can't wait to share my results! It's been a lot of fun and I've been able to make some cute things for a fraction of the retail price.

Kelly Green Wrap Dress

I wore this fabulous Elizabeth McKay wrap dress to a wedding this past weekend.

I had such a hard time trying to figure out what to wear since it was a outdoor wedding and mostly on lawn.  I found after going through my closet most of my fancier dresses really looked best with heels and not wedges. But these old Kate Spade wedges (now sold out- sorry!) ended up working perfectly for walking around on the grass and complemented the kelly green dress!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Wedding Wednesday- Our First Anniversary

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past weekend- I seriously can't believe how fast this year flew by!

I always go the extra mile to make anniversaries and birthdays extra special, so I knew I wanted to find the perfect traditional anniversary gift. According to an age-old belief, the first anniversary is the “paper” anniversary.

I had the chance to talk to Anna over at Paper Anniversary by Anna V., and she explained why such an ordinary material is the traditional gift for the first anniversary: “Paper symbolizes writing the next chapter of your lives together. Your first year of marriage is a blank page where you start writing your story as a couple… your home, your rituals, your family.”

I wore this beautiful origami paper jewelry out on our anniversary dinner date at longtime favorite restaurant- Hawks in Granite Bay.

The necklace and earrings are handmade from pink Japanese Chiyogami Paper. I absolutely love the design and the pink and white colors. The quality is top notch too, loved that the pieces are made with sterling silver.

I wanted to wear a white dress that I wore to one of my bridal showers and one pair of my wedding shoes to make the outfit extra special.

For CWF's gift, I surprised him with cufflinks that are customized with our calligraphy wedding invitations.  He was so surprised!

Next year is the “cotton” anniversary and I’m already dreaming of ideas for Year 2!

Lilly Pulitzer Annabelle Top

I am pretty much obsessed with this Lilly top (and the print!) for summer. It's so perfect with white jeans and my favorite wicker bag.

And a dear reader spotted my picture over on Lilly Pulitzer's 'Style Seen' Pinterest board!

Father's Day Gift Guide - Under $40

I can't believe Father's Day is this weekend! I've always struggled with what to get especially when they seem to have it all. So I put together a gift guide with a few tried and true favorites that I know  any dad would love!

Do you have any go-to Father's Day gift ideas?

Blue & White Brunch

We hosted our first brunch in the new house this past weekend! I had so much fun planning it and it was a total success. It was so nice to see some of CWF's extended family for the first time since our wedding last year too.

I had all the food set up in our kitchen nook inside but we ate outside on the back patio. It was the perfect morning for it! These were the place settings outside:

Napkins // Bamboo Flatware // Chargers // China

Every brunch needs hydrangeas and champagne!

The menu was chocolate croissants I baked as guests arrived (from Trader Joes), a quiche, bacon, hashbrowns and a fruit salad. Super simple and everyone was stuffed.

I'm seriously obsessed with the bamboo/blue and white/chinoiserie theme. I can't wait to host another one!
