Guest Room Redo

Since getting married, I've been wanting to update our 2nd bedroom from my very girly closet room to an actual functional second bedroom that our family would like to stay in.
We are planning to get a new (queen size!) bed for the master and my four poster (full size) that was my great-grandma's will be moved to the guest room. I really like the mix of the traditional bed and rug with some more modern elements like the chinoiserie chair and quatrefoil mirror. I think it keeps the room looking youthful and while still looking 'grownup'!
We have a lot of storage space in the bathroom so I was able to move all my jewelry there. My crafting supplies and purses will stay in the guest room but I'm making better use of the closet and keeping everything stored away instead. I'm so excited for the final outcome!!

Wedding Wednesday- Derby Bridal Shower

A while back, the girls at my office threw me a pink & green Derby themed bridal shower! Everything turned out soo cute! I love that all the ladies wore their big hats too.
One of my coworkers even made this fab cake that fit perfectly with the theme, complete with my new monogram!!

I wore a white seersucker Lilly dress (similar) and Jcrew sweater

For my hat I took a monogrammed sunhat and hot glued a bow, feathers, and veil tulle for the perfect bridal shower derby look.

With the shower hosts! There was plently of sweet treats to choose from.

We even had (non-alcoholic) mint juleps and sweet tea!

The cute gift and card area along with a picture board of CWF and I.

And lastly we played everyone's favorite toilet paper bride game! Here was all of 'brides' and of course I had to choose the one brave guy as the winner!

Thank you ladies for throwing me the most fabulous bridal shower ever! XOXO

Ronald Reagan's Mac N Cheese

This is literally my favorite dish of all time as I'm a huge fan of anything with cheese. My aunt made it for us growing up and has become a staple at family occasions.  It is from the Congressional Cookbook back when her Father In Law was in office and Nancy Reagan submitted it as one of the President's favorite dishes. If you are interested in purchasing, it can also be found in the White House Family Cookbook.

1/2 lb macaroni
1 teaspoon butter, melted
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon hot water
1 cup milk
3 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated

Boil macaroni and drain thoroughly. Stir in butter and egg.

Mix salt and mustard with 1 tablespoon hot water. Add to milk. Add the cheese, leaving enough to sprinkle on top. Pour into buttered 9x9 dish, add milk, sprinkle with cheese.

Bake at 350F for about 45 minutes or until custard is set and top is crusty.

Wedding Wednesday- Thank You Cards

We ordered the most beautiful wedding thank you cards from Wedding Paper Divas!

I really wanted something simple with our picture that continued the theme of the wedding. The paper was thick and the gold envelope was the perfect extra special touch. We also ordered a custom return stamp with our new last name.

The best part was that my husband was so excited to receive them that he wrote most of them himself!! #BestHusbandAward

Coming to your mailbox soon! XO
