Cheers to 2013!

Happy New Year's Eve!

I had a truly fabulous 2012! I did lots of traveling; I jet-setted to Maui (1, 2, 3), LAArizona, Palm Springs, Wyoming, Orange County, and lots of places in between!

I spent lots of quality time with my friends, whether it be at happy hour, brunch, wine tasting, or just general shenanigans!

And I had a lot of favorite outfits along the way:

I hope that 2013 brings just as much happiness and love!

Cheers to 2013!!

DIY: Tassels

I've been loving on tassels recently.. it's such a fun way to spruce up your outfits or your home!

My version:

lamp with tassel

Tools: Pack of embroderiy floss (or 2) and a metal circle.

Take off the paper but don't undo the embroidery floss. Place metal circle in the fold of the floss. Cut off about 6 inches of floss, wrap and secure around top.

Cut the loop at the bottom and trim up any strays!

Attach another string (or chain) to the metal circle and..

Voila! Cute lamp tassel!

And now onto a tassel necklace:

My Version:

cute tassel necklace

I decided to make mine with chain and a bead, but the same principle as above can also be used for the necklace!

You will need:
Wire cutters, Wire bending pylers (not shown), a fun bead, a pack of chain (some for the necklace and some for the tassels), and a pin with a hook-eye at the end.  I ended up not using the half ball tassel cover (but you easily could).

Cut the chain into 10(ish) 3-inch pieces for the tassels and put the end of the chain on the pin. They should layer nicely around the hook-eye.

Then place your bead on top of the chains.

I used about 15 inches of chain for the necklace portion. Hook the 2 ends on top of the bead though the pin. Use the wire benders to make a small loop to secure the chain in place.

Voila! Your done! Now you can wear your new tassel necklace!

Do you love tassels too?!

What I Wore: Downtown

I recently had an afternoon off work, so what better time to go to a late lunch and take a stroll downtown?!

What would you do if you had an afternoon off work?

Monogrammed Necklace

I received a ton of compliments on my monogrammed necklace on instagram, so I thought I would share the details with you all here too! Last week Hopsy from Monograms and Manicures posted about a single-letter monogrammed necklace from JCP for only $7. I love that it still looks like a 3-letter version!

The necklace on my besties this past weekend:

Aren't they just the cutest??!!!

Up until now I've been on the fence about getting a super nice gold monogrammed necklace because my monogram will eventually change, so this JCP one is right up my alley! I also recently spotted a 3-letter gold-platted one for only $40 on Glam Grab which is a great deal compared to some of the other websites out there!

Happy monogramming!!

Junior League Holiday Party

The other night I attended our Junior League Holiday party. It's so nice to see ladies on other committees that I don't often see!

I wore a Devon Baer tunic, Rebecca Minkoff bag and bow pumps; perfect casual holiday chic if you ask me!

love that ruffle!

 Perfect pink scalloped bow pumps!

Our Christmas Tree

This year we decided to "go big or go home" because we got a 12 foot Christmas tree! We usually have a 7 footer, so this was a big change! But I LOVE how it turned out!

We went with a "woodland" theme this year! Which consists of owls, various pinecones, birdhouses, birdnests, and for the most part I limited the glass ball colors to red and silver.

Love our Angel topper, it was my grandma's! We actually have a lot of vintage glass ornaments from the 50's also from my family. I think it's so fun that I get to have them on my tree now!

And of course a few new pieces of our own to mix things up:

And one of my favorites, Kitty Klaus..

Do you see the resemblance of the real Kitty Klaus??!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!
