What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! It feels good to be halfway through the week. I wanted to share a few things I've been loving lately!
First up, is this pagoda monogram from Pottery Barn kids. I've been all about the chinoiserie lately and this would be perfect for a little gallery wall I'm working on.

Our first anniversary is coming up soon and I've been racking my brain for a paper gift. (Any ideas?! Please share!) I've always wanted a silhouette done of our future kids (as I have one of me as a child!) and while we don't have any yet, I thought it might be fun to do one of our cat (since we are obsessed and all). It would also go in the previously mentioned hallway gallery wall. I found an Etsy seller who specializes in pets (dogs too!) and I'm extremely excited about it!

I had my eye on the Lilly for Target flip flops but when I saw them in person I thought the pattern on the footbed might wear off too quickly so I passed on them. I was browsing the new Lilly summer line a few days ago and they released a version which is exactly what I was looking for! They are the "Pool Flip-Flops" and I think they will be perfect for the pool and beach this summer.

Have you found any favorites this week?! XO

Rose Garden

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Ours was pretty low-key, work has been crazy busy and I needed a little down time.
In other news, we are loving our new neighborhood! I love that we are in walking distance to a few of our favorite restaurants as well as one of the nicest parks in the city. After work last week, we walked to the rose garden in the park and on the weekends they have the best farmers market!

The roses are in bloom now!

Hope you all have a great week! XO

One Room Challenge: Week 4

Happy Thursday! You know what that means, I am linking up with the One Room Challenge. See my progress: Week One, Week Two, Week Three.

To be honest, I haven't made much progress in the room for week 4- it's been pretty busy over here work wise. But I did play around with the room planner function on the Pottery Barn website and I created this so you could visualize the room set up.

Also, I finally decided on a duvet after much thought and deliberation. I went with the more pricey one I loved instead of the more practical choices and I know I will be happier in the long run. Here is the pattern:
I was looking for a chinoiserie pattern and this one is perfect. I think the dark color makes it a little more masculine so the husband is happy too.

My do-to list:
-New sconce shades
-New bedding
-Purchase bed risers
-New nightstands (I think we are being gifted some as well)
-Make a skirted console to hide the TV stand
-Maybe curtains of some sort if I get up the courage, new curtains
-Find finials

Now, I am off to check up on everyone else!

One Room Challenge: Week 3

I can't believe we are already on Week 3 of the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling It Home! Halfway to go and I still have so much to do. You can check out my progress: Week One, Week Two.

This week my inlaws gave us a pair of nightstands which ended up working out better than expected with our antique headboard. Somehow they are the same color, have brass hardware which match the scones and are a similar style to the headboard. I couldn't have planned it better if I tried. (And a huge 'thank you' to my husband for driving up to Lake Shasta to get these for me!)

When I had talked about getting drapes I was envisioning wood hardware in the same wood color as the headboard. After looking everywhere last week I thought that would be impossible.. everything I was finding was either way too expensive or not the correct color. I basically gave up. I was at Bed, Bath and Beyond for a bridal shower gift and lo and behold, they had exactly what I was looking for! And on major clearance! Total score. I am still on the hunt for finials however. I slapped up the curtains we had at our condo for the meantime but they will have to go.

Here is the other smaller window.

I majorly dislike the grommets on these curtains. They don't really go with anything in the room. The color is fine but I'm thinking a pattern would look nice since I think the bedding will also be plain. Any thoughts?!

Also, on the opposite wall as the bed is this rattan TV console that doubles as our linen closet since we don't have one (#89yearoldhouseproblems). I mentioned last week I am hoping to make a skirt to hide it. So far, I've only bought a piece of plywood to attach the fabric to as I think this will be the last project to get done since I'm still deciding on curtains and bedding.

Things I hope to accomplish:
-New sconce shades
-New bedding
-Purchase bed risers
-New nightstands (I think we are being gifted some as well)
-Make a skirted console to hide the TV stand
-Maybe curtains of some sort if I get up the courage, new curtains
-Find finials

Hopefully next week I will have more progress to share. I'm off to check out the other ORC participants!!

Our Housewarming Party

A few weeks ago we had our housewarming party! It was a total success. Since our house is sage green with navy trim, I thought I would stay within that color scheme and go with turquoise and navy for the party colors.

sail to sable
I wore this fabulous hydrangea Sail to Sable maxi dress (now on major sale!!)!

To continue with the colors, I had hydrangas in blue mason jars on round tables with blue gingham tablecloths on our lawn in the backyard. Most people ended up sitting out there because it was such a lovely day.

tiny prints
I sent out these invitations from Tiny Prints which I thought worked perfectly. I was also able to snag matching napkins and thank you cards to coordinate. They were all a huge hit!

Can we talk about how amazing this cake is?! It was funfetti too so it was also delicious!!

We served mini sandwiches from our favorite deli (Domincos in Danville), my mom's famous shrimp and grain salad (I will share the recipe soon!) and lots of little finger foods.

The blue chevron plates were a last minute target find!
DIY paintchip banner

I also made this banner from paint chips which I strung up outside on the back patio.
One of my favorite touches were these magnets from Tiny Prints. They made perfect party favors for all the guests and after the party I was able to send them out to friends and family who couldn't make it!
Unfortunately, I didn't get more pictures of anything else because you know how it goes, once the party got started I didn't pick up my camera again. But it was a great time! Thank you to everyone who came and helped us celebrate! XO

One Room Challenge: Week 2

If you remember from last week, I announced that I was going to participate in the One Room Challenge linkup hosted by Linda Calling It Home and redo our master bedroom. What I didn't show you was my inspiration because things were in the works with getting an antique carved headboard to our house. The bed has been in my husband's family a very long time and when I was offered it I couldn't pass the opportunity by!  Although I do feel as if I've bitten off more than I can chew with decorating around it in only 4 weeks. We shall see how everything turns out! It should be interesting to say the least.

Also, we decided not to take the footboard for now because it needs a little restoration work that is beyond me and I thought it might be visually too heavy in the small room.

Mr. Kitty had to get in on the action too!

Upon getting the bed, I scoured pinterest/houzz like crazy to find some inspiration. This is what I came up with:

My main goal is to avoid our bedroom looking like something out of the 1800's and for it to be classic but fun! I think we will go for the neutral color scheme more in the second picture.

Some of my challenges (besides the obvious bed issue):
-My husband is opposed to me painting any furniture
-Working with a small budget
-We are afraid to hang curtains on the plaster walls (probably an irrational fear but we broke a chunk of plaster off in the living room and it looks BAD)
-Small room

Things I hope to accomplish:
-New sconce shades
-New bedding (I am thinking white)
-Purchase bed risers
-New nightstands (I think we are being gifted some as well)
-Make a skirted console to hide the TV stand
-Maybe curtains of some sort if I get up the courage

That's all I have for today, hopefully next week I will have more progress to share!

Monogrammed Hemstitch Linens

I'm always on the lookout for monogrammed linens in classic designs at a good price point. I found Monograms, Etc recently and I love their products so much I thought I would share with you:

This table runner is the perfect size for the table in our kitchen nook. It was $31 for a 54 inch runner with the 'whitlock' monogram style (the monogram itself is about 6 inches!!).

This set of 4 cocktail napkins were $20 with the matching 'whitlock' monogram style.

Do you have any good monogram finds lately??!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend.

I had Friday off work so we did a little gardening in the front and then we bought this beautiful spiral boxwood topiary! I am seriously so excited! I've always wanted one and actually a lot of the house in the neighborhood have them. I think this empty area is the perfect spot for him right now.

Saturday we spent the day power washing the patio, driveway, garage and everything else we could find. Total snooze fest, but we literally have the nicest neighbors in the world because they let us borrow all their tools.
I used our wedding china for a little Easter brunch on Sunday. The napkins are my all time favorite as I made them with my Nana a few years back. I baked the chocolate croissants from Traders Joe's and they were perfect for the occasion.

Then we went down to my in laws for an Easter Prime rib. It was delicious! I got to be in charge of the tablescape this year, and I think it turned out pretty cute! I reused my favorite chargers and the bunny placecards from our house, used the runner we received as a housewarming gift from our sweet friends and my MIL's floral china. I had a lot of fun trying out some hand lettering for the place cards too.

And I rewore this Easter dress/outfit again this year:
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great week! XO

One Room Challenge

I've decided to participate in the One Room Challenge linkup and update our master bedroom over the next six weeks.

If you remember, after we got married I also updated our master in our old condo but now that we've moved to a 1920's bungalow I'm wanting another refresh.
This is what I am working with currently:

Really nothing wrong with it, I just want something a little different for our new house. I can't wait to share this little journey with you all!
