Re-styling the Shift Dress

I love experimenting with wearing items in different ways, not only is it fun, but you can make your wardrobe go further! Last week I decided to try wearing my shift dresses as skirts or tops. I think it turned out pretty cute! Since I have a phobia of wearing things more than once in the same way, it really gave me more options for work!

I made this happen by tucking and folding over the top portion inside of the skirt before I put it on. Then I stepped into the "skirt". It might take a few tries before it looks smoothed out. The belt is really critical in holding it up, giving it more shape and covering up the fact that it doesn't have a top seam. I ended up wearing a cardi with it to hide any other imperfections- like the folded zipper.

My second attempt to dinner the other night with CWF.

This one was much easier, just put a skirt on top of the dress (make sure the skirt is longer), add accessories and violia! Completely new look!

Let me know if you've tried this before or if you end up trying it out!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

What I Wore: National Wear your Lilly Day

So, as most of you already know, today is National Wear your Lilly Day.. as well as the first day of summer! Honestly, I wear Lilly almost everyday so today is really nothing new.. but of course I love any reason to celebrate!

This dress is one of my favorites, it's just so fun and different! The pattern is from a few years back, but I don't think it will ever go out of style! and right now I'm having a total navy/pink moment :)

I'm also wearing a navy Lilly bracelet that I got on our last Maui trip!

Last year I wore this dress:
which I still adore!!

What is your favorite Lilly dress? Something new or something from seasons past?? And more importantly did you buy any new Lilly goodies today??!

I'm linking up with the Pleated Poppy for today's edition of What I Wore Wednesday!

This and That

Happy Tuesday! I feel like I'm all over the place lately..

Last week I talked about what I was going to wear to the US Open...

But the weather ended up having other plans for me...

I thought this outfit turned out pretty cute for being so last minute! Instead of that adorable Lilly pullover, I wore a Ralph Lauren one I already had! and my lacoste headbands have been one the best purchases I've ever made! Bermudas are from J.crew. And sorry for no actual outfit pictures, it was basically misting all day and my hair was a frizzy hot mess.

Some pictures I snuck with my iphone..
Love his pants! we almost matched!
Tiger warming up!

We ended up meeting up with a friend, who is a sports columnist and we were able to go on the course while he took pictures.. I'm hoping he sends me some soon, because they were fantastic! Also, I just loved Beau's story, and I found out hes actually a friend of my family's!!

This upcoming weekend I'm going to the A's vs. Giants game.. and we are sitting in a box, so I thought I would wear a dress, but maybe this is too dressy? I can't decide.. and I'm not really even an A's fan, but I liked the green!
excuse my disaster of a room!

I recently went to Michael's and they have some seriously cute stuff!

How cute would these plates be for a BBQ this summer? Adorbs!

and these nautical cards! So stinkin cute!!!

And because it was Father's Day and I miss him every day..
Love this picture of us! and yes, even in my twenties I would sit on his lap for a picture!

Also, last thing I promise...
Fresh - Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15
I've been loving sugar fresh "rose". Lighter than than the "passion" and perfect for summer. I tried the "coral" and it was not good at all..

Told you this post was all over the place!! Hope everyone is getting their outfit's ready for tomorrow- National Wear your Lilly Day!!

My US Open Outfit

Today is the first day of the US Open! This year it's being held at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, so naturally we are going. Since I have to work I won't be there until the weekend, but somehow CWF was able to play hookie and attend every day! I'm soo jelly!!!

If you are unsure what I am even talking about, don't worry! The US Open is the second major golf tournament of the year (1st being the Master's) and open to any professional or amateur golfer with a handicap not exceeding 1.4 and that has qualified. (This movie was about an amateur caddy that won)

Anyway, this is what I plan on wearing:
Lacoste polo, Lilly Marigold skort, Jack Purcells, a pashmina for warmth (it is SF afterall!), and my longchamp backpack!

Unfortunately, we can't bring our phones or cameras, so I won't be able to take any pictures... but I'll try to sneak it in!

On another note, CWF has been so thoughtful lately- he bought me a bunch of peonies and they are now brightening up my office cubicle!

Is anyone else going to the US Open?? If so, I would love to meet up!!  Who are your favorites to win?? I always choose Phil over Tiger, but we'll see!

Summer Wardrobe Staple: The Tunic

Happy Tuesday!! I hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend! I spent most of mine lounging by the pool!

with my new Lilly towel!

One of my favorite summer wardrobe staples is the tunic.. perfect for throwing on and looking chic!

CWF and I went out for ice cream last night.. much needed on a hot summer evening! This tunic dress is from j.crew factory a few years back and its one of my favs!

3. Tory Burch (striped similar)

I have #1 on my short-list of summer purchases, I think it would be perfect for Maui! Do you have a favorite place to shop for tunics?

On another completely unrelated note, do you see my nail polish below?!? LOVE! Actually I can't help you on the color (its a random from my college days) but I got this amazing topcoat, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat, at target and it really is! Perfect glosslyness, quick dry, anti-chip and it only costs $4! and its now day 5 and no chips in sight!

Thursday Thankfulness

Lately I've been feeling extra thankful and grateful for all that I have. So I  am linking up with fellow northern-California blogger, Tracy @ Then I Got to Thinking for Thankful Thursday.

Today I am thankful for...

For my sweet boyfriend, who loves me more than anything. I just love us and our relationship. I am also very thankful that he puts up with my shopping and blogging habit.

For my family who made sure my every birthday wish came true. Including the cake that I am still eating...

For our Mr. Kitty, who provides us with endless love and entertainment.

For my coworkers, who took the time to decorate my cubicle for my bday and give me lots of fun gifts.
frametastic picture

For my job, I know I can complain sometimes (not here obvi) but it makes me happy that what I do makes such a difference in peoples lives everyday, and of course that it pays the bills.

For the wonderful weather lately and that I can lay out by the pool this weekend.

For my friends, and all the fun stuff we have planned for June.

And lastly, for all my followers who constantly make my day by leaving sweet comments. I love you all!

Happy Thursday!! XO

What I Wore: Birthday Edition

I know you all are probably so sick of hearing about my birthday now, but I just had to share my favorite outfit of the day!

I wore the Lilly Pulitzer Georgie Dress and I'm pretty much obsessed with it!

Love that view of the hills!

I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy for WIWW!

On another birthday note, I actually share my birthday with my favorite person- my grandma! She passed a few years ago now, but our birthdays together will be something I always treasure.

With my grandma (left) and my great-grandma (right)!!

With my cousin, my brother and the birthday girls!

Have a happy Wednesday! and I promise no more birthday talk!

My Birthday Weekend in iPhone Photos

I had an absolutely fabulous birthday weekend! It was so great spending time with family and friends!

On Friday I went out to dinner with my mom and her fiance to a local favorite, Creek Monkey. Such yummy food and after we walked around downtown because there was a carshow and live band.
I'm wearing a target dress (old), Kate Spade bow clutch (similar), Lilly sandals, and Kate Spade Bangle

On Saturday morning (my bday!) CWF and I went to brunch at Bridges in Danville (they filmed the restaurant scene of Ms. Doubtfire there!)
J.crew dress and wedges, assortment of bangles

I had the yummiest white wine sangra with brunch! and of course I got a cupcake with a pink candle!
After brunch I headed to the spa for an afternoon of pampering! The only way for the day to get any better is if we were on Maui.. and lucky for us CWF's parents gifted me (and CWF too) a 2.5-week trip for my birthday gift!!!!! I couldn't be more thrilled! Now the countdown until we leave in September has begun :)

I also got the cutest and yummiest (sprinkles!) ice cream cake!

and CWF got us tickets for the US Open in a couple of weeks! After Tiger's performance this past weekend, it should be really fun to watch! Now I just need to plan out a cute outfit!!

And randomly on Sunday afternoon we headed to In n Out and CWF got me the biggest drink I have ever seen.. I think it was bigger than my head!

Well I hope you all had a great weekend too!! I'll be back tomorrow to share some pictures of my birthday dinner outfit!! XOXO

Summer White

Happy Friday! Today is especially awesome because tomorrow is my birthday!!! I can't wait! I'm planning on going out to brunch, spending the day at the spa and doing a bit of shopping too! What better way to celebrate turning 26?!!

This week's Friday's Fancies theme is all about wearing white, and Lord knows I love to wear white in the summer! White pants, a cute teal top and matching color-block sweater just seems so fun and fresh! My mom always told me to wear the same tone shoes as your hemline, so these espadrilles perfectly fit the bill..

Tory Burch Straw Bag, Everything else J.crew

Last night to dinner I wore a white on white outfit- I got the inspiration from the most recent J.crew catalog.. I really like how it turned out!

Going on a  walk after dinner and having a little fun on CWF's longboard!

Hope you all have a wonderful day and weekend!! XOXO
